About Us

The School of Fine Arts is a ministry of First Baptist Church.  It is our purpose to provide quality instruction in music, visual arts, and dance/creative movement.  All lessons and classes are taught from a Christian perspective.  Our use of a variety of traditional and modern teaching methods encourage students in developing their skills and God-given talents.
The classes offered by the School of Fine Arts are available to any child or adult desiring to begin or continue study.  Instruction is adapted to the student's age and experience.
Offerings include class instruction in art, dance, piano and Musikgarten.  Private lessons are available in voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, pipe organ and electric bass.
Each of our instructors holds a degree or degrees in their area of expertise and/or has considerable performance and teaching experience.
REGISTRATION FEE (Fall and Spring)
Annual, non-refundable, family registration fees of $50 may be paid in 2 installments of $25 (once at the beginning of the Fall semester and once at the beginning of Spring semester).  Immediate family members may attend other classes in The School of Fine Arts without paying an additional registration fee.  Musikgarten registration fees may also be paid by the semester at $25 per semester and $10 for the summer.  Short term classes of 6-9 weeks in length will require a registration fee of $10 per class if it is the only School of Fine Arts class being taken (the $50 registration fee will not apply if only one short term class is taken).
A non-refundable registration fee of $10 per family must accompany each registration for summer classes.  Students who were enrolled in the Fall and Spring semesters and have already paid the $50 yearly registration are not required to pay an additional summer registration fee.
Monthly tuition is to be paid in full on or before the first scheduled class/lesson of each month. Musikgarten tuition is due on or before the first class of the semester or may be paid in two installments with the second half due the eighth week of classes.  TUITION PAYMENT IS LATE AFTER THE 15TH OF THE MONTH.  STATEMENTS ARE SENT ONLY TO DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS AND A LATE CHARGE OF $5 WILL BE ADDED TO THE TOTAL AMOUNT DUE.
Since we see each student only once a week, attendance at every lesson is extremely important.  If a conflict arises with a scheduled private lesson, then you must contact the teacher at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. The teacher will make up the lesson at a mutually agreeable time.  Most group lessons and classes may be made up by attending another class closest to the student’s age and ability level.  The teacher can suggest a make-up class most appropriate.  Only private lessons missed for illness, death in the family, or in the event of an emergency will be considered excused and rescheduled.  In case of sudden illness, the instructor should be notified as soon as possible and he/she will work with you to reschedule the lesson.  Some teachers offer group lessons each week to make up missed private lessons. Private lessons cancelled by a teacher will be rescheduled at a mutually agreeable time.
We strongly urge that you commit to a full year of lessons or classes.  If for some reason you should decide to terminate instruction, a thirty-day written notice is requested.  This should be sent to the director of the School of Fine Arts. You are responsible for lessons that occur within the thirty days from the date notice is given.
